A private export sale of 150,320 metric tons of corn to unknown destinations was reported this morning.
According to USDA, corn export shipments totaled 1.589 million tons (62.32 million bushels) in the week ending December 11. This was 9.07% below the prior week’s revised total but 37.25% higher than the same week in 2024. Mexico was the largest destination at 488,231 tons, with 301,240 tons shipped to Japan and 219,729 tons to Spain. Since the start of the 2025/26 marketing year on September 1, total corn exports have reached 22.501 million tons (885.84 million bushels), which is 68.74% higher than the same period last year. USDA also reported a sale of 71,917 tons of sorghum to China.
Another backlogged update to the Export Sales data this morning showed corn bookings of 1.84 million tons in the week ending November 20. This was near the upper end of traders’ expectations of 1.1–2.2 million tons. While lower than the previous week, sales were still 73.4% higher than the same week last year.
An additional update to the backlogged CFTC data released in the afternoon showed managed money flipping back to a net short position in the week ending November 25. There was a shift of 48,999 contracts to the short side, taking the total net short position to 10,872 contracts.
