According to weekly EIA data, ethanol production averaged 1.119 million barrels per day in the week ending January 16. That was 77,000 barrels per day lower than the prior week’s all-time record. Ethanol stocks increased by 1.266 million barrels, with total inventories rising to 25.739 million barrels, as the East Coast and Gulf regions accounted for the majority of the build. Ethanol exports were also higher, up 99,000 barrels per day from the previous week to near 218,000 barrels per day, close to a record level. Refiner ethanol inputs increased as well, up 11,000 barrels per day to 852,000 barrels per day.
The House funding bill advanced today, but it did not include language allowing year-round E15 sales, despite efforts by some lawmakers.
USDA Export Sales data will be released on Friday. Corn export bookings for the week ending January 15 are expected to range between 1.9 and 3.1 million metric tons. During that same week, 1.828 million metric tons in daily private export sales had already been announced.
