According to USDA’s FGIS report, corn export shipments for the week ending January 22 totaled 1.51 million metric tons (59.45 million bushels). This was 1.63% higher than the previous week and 20.74% above the same week last year. Mexico was the largest destination during the week, receiving 402,936 metric tons of corn. Japan received 265,122 metric tons, while Spain imported 210,763 metric tons.
Since September 1, exports in the 2025/26 marketing year have reached 31.437 million metric tons (1.24 billion bushels), which is now 53.35% higher than the same period last year.
Export Sales data updated last Friday showed total corn export commitments at 56.045 million metric tons, up 34% from last year. This represents 69% of USDA’s record export projection, compared with the average pace of 65%.
According to AgRural, harvesting of Brazil’s first corn crop in the Center-South regions has reached 5%, ahead of last year’s 2.2% pace. Planting of the second crop stood at 4.7% as of last Thursday, compared with 8.6% at the same time in 2024/25. AgRural raised its estimate of Brazil’s total corn production by 0.6 million metric tons to 136.6 million metric tons.
