According to the Export Sales data released this morning, corn sales for the week ending January 22 totaled 1.649 million metric tons. This was lower than the previous week, but still 21.4 percent higher than the same week last year. Japan was the largest buyer with 365,100 metric tons, while Mexico purchased 350,800 metric tons and Colombia bought 339,500 metric tons.
Census trade data showed that total corn shipments during November reached 7.305 million metric tons (287.6 million bushels). This was the second-largest November total on record and the largest monthly shipment since last April.
Distillers grain exports declined to 933,557 metric tons, down from last year. Meanwhile, ethanol exports were a record for November at 211.33 million gallons, which was also the second-largest monthly total ever recorded for any month.
