On Monday, ICE cotton futures declined by 67 to 85 points across most contracts. Crude oil futures fell 24 cents per barrel to $60.83, while the U.S. dollar index dropped 0.539 points to 96.865.
USDA Export Sales data showed cotton export commitments of 7.35 million running bales as of January 15, which is 13% below last year. This represents 64% of the USDA projection and remains well behind the average pace of 81%.
The Friday online auction from The Seam showed sales of 5,645 bales at an average price of 57.99 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index fell 50 points on January 23 to 74.05 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks declined by 510 bales on January 23, leaving certified stocks at 9,912 bales. The Adjusted World Price was updated last week to 50.99 cents per pound, down 18 points from the previous week.
