ICE cotton futures declined on Tuesday, with front-month contracts closing 72 to 84 points lower. Pressure came from the synthetic market, as crude oil futures fell $1.65 per barrel to $55.17. The U.S. dollar index rose 0.038 to 97.995.
Monday’s online auction from The Seam showed sales of 15,641 bales at an average price of 59.57 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index fell 10 points on December 15 to 73.85 cents. ICE-certified cotton stocks declined by 1,497 bales on December 15, bringing total certified stocks to 12,474 bales. The Adjusted World Price was updated last Thursday to 50.39 cents per pound, down 89 points from the previous week.
