USDA reported a private export sale of 136,000 metric tons of soybeans to China this morning.
Export Inspections data showed soybean shipments of 795,661 tons (29.24 million bushels) in the week ending December 11. This was down 22.4% from the prior week and 59.6% lower than the same week last year. China was the top destination at 202,043 tons, followed by Germany at 136,515 tons and Vietnam at 80,425 tons. Total shipments for the current marketing year now stand at 13.702 million tons (503.47 million bushels), a year-on-year decline of 46.3%.
Another backlogged update to the Export Sales report released this morning showed total soybean sales of 2.232 million tons in the week ending November 20, near the upper end of estimates of 0.8–3.0 million tons. Of this, 2.14 million tons were sold to China, most of which had already been announced through daily sales reports. Including this morning’s announcement, known sales to China now total 4.2 million tons. Soybean meal sales for the week were reported at 150,951 tons, in the lower half of the estimated 100,000–450,000 ton range. Soybean oil sales rebounded from the prior week to 7,540 tons, at the lower end of estimates of 5,000–25,000 tons.
NOPA data released this morning showed member companies crushed 216.04 million bushels of soybeans during November. This was down 5.1% from October’s all-time record but 11.83% higher than last year and a record for the month of November. Soybean oil stocks rose 15.95% from the end of October to 1.513 billion pounds, which was also 39.58% higher year over year.
According to the CFTC Commitment of Traders report released this afternoon, managed money trimmed 15,336 contracts from their net long position in soybean futures and options in the week ending November 25. The net long position stood at 214,289 contracts on that date.
AgRural estimates that Brazilian soybean planting was 97% complete as of Thursday.
