The Export Inspections report released Monday morning showed wheat shipments of 351,001 metric tons (12.9 million bushels) for the week ending January 22. This was 11.76% lower than the previous week and 27.56% below the same week last year. South Korea was the largest destination with 119,036 metric tons shipped. Japan received 73,230 metric tons, and Mexico imported 63,773 metric tons.
Total wheat shipments for the marketing year have now reached 16.33 million metric tons (600.05 million bushels), which is 18.21% higher than the same period last year.
USDA Export Sales data released Friday indicated total wheat export commitments of 21.03 million metric tons as of January 15, up 18% from last year. This equals 86% of the USDA projection, close to the average sales pace of 87%.
