Maharashtra farmers happy due to good rains at the right time

Nagpur. The Director of Agricultural Extension and Development of Maharashtra has said that due to regular good rainfall in various parts of the state during the current monsoon season,

the farmers are very happy and are showing great enthusiasm in sowing Kharif crops. This time by July 10, the production area of ​​​​Kharif crops in the state reached a new record level till this date. Sowing of crops will continue in August as well beyond July.

This time the normal average area of ​​​​Kharif crops in Maharashtra has been fixed at 142 lakh hectares, whereas by July 10, 2024,

its total sowing area reached 116.38 lakh hectares. Looking at the favorable conditions of weather and monsoon and the activism of the farming community,

it seems that this time the production area of ​​​​Kharif crops in the state will go far beyond the normal average area. According to the Director of Agriculture,

stock of seeds and fertilizers is available for farmers in all the divisions of Maharashtra, the arrangement of which was made before the sowing started. Due to this,

farmers did not have to wait for anything and with the first shower of monsoon, the pace of sowing increased. According to the available data, as compared to the normal average area,

this time in Maharashtra, till July 10, sowing of grain crops was completed in 47 percent area, pulses in 75 percent area and oilseeds in 105 percent area.

The production area of ​​oilseed crops has gone ahead of the normal average area by 5 percent while its sowing is still going on.
