Malaysia Ranks First in Edible Oil Supply to India

Mumbai. Malaysia ranked first in exporting edible oils to India during November 2025, followed by Argentina in second place, Indonesia in third, and Thailand in fourth.

In addition, India also imported significant quantities of edible oils from several other countries, including Brazil, Russia, China, Ukraine, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In November, a total of 1,150,955 tonnes of edible oils were imported into the country, including 3,500 tonnes of RBD palmolein, 626,991 tonnes of crude palm oil, 1,850 tonnes of crude palm kernel oil, 370,661 tonnes of crude soybean oil, 142,953 tonnes of crude sunflower oil, and 5,000 tonnes of crude rapeseed/canola oil.

During the month under review, India imported 303,123 tonnes from Malaysia, 270,613 tonnes from Argentina, 126,956 tonnes from Indonesia, 105,286 tonnes from Thailand, and 74,919 tonnes from China.

Additionally, 74,020 tonnes were imported from Russia, 50,062 tonnes from Brazil, 20,000 tonnes from Ukraine, 5,000 tonnes from the UAE, and 120,976 tonnes from other countries.

China surpassed Russia and Brazil in terms of quantity, supplying 69,919 tonnes of crude soybean oil and 5,000 tonnes of crude palm oil.

India primarily imports palm oil from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brazil; soybean oil from Argentina, Brazil, and China; and sunflower oil from Russia, Argentina, and Ukraine, while smaller quantities are also imported from other countries.
