Hyderabad. The Telangana government has announced the paddy procurement policy for the marketing season 2024-25. Under this, the milling charge payable to rice mills has been increased by Rs 30 per quintal for coarse paddy and Rs 40 per quintal for fine variety, while its current rate is Rs 10 per quintal.
This additional milling charge will be valid only for those millers who will complete the custom milling of rice by the initial due date fixed by the Central Government.
If the period of supply of custom milled rice (CMR) is extended, then this additional charge will not be given to the rice millers for the delivery made during this period.
The new paddy procurement policy has been announced on the basis of the suggestion given in the meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee held under the chairmanship of this Chief Minister of Telangana.
Several rounds of talks were held between this committee and rice millers. Later, these suggestions and recommendations were approved in the cabinet meeting. However, rice millers are not completely satisfied with this announcement of the government.
They say that in some states the milling charge is between 110 to 200 rupees per quintal. In view of the huge increase in diesel, labour and electricity along with other expenses, the milling charge should be fixed at a logical level.
The minimum support price of paddy has been fixed at Rs 2300 per quintal for the general category and Rs 2320 per quintal for the fine variety.
