News Capsule: Brazil 2025/26 sugar output forecast: Datagro
★ According to agribusiness consultancy Datagro, Brazil’s sugar production in the 2025–26 season is expected to rise by 3.1% from the previous year to 41.42 million metric tons.
★ The increase is projected despite a slight decline in total sugarcane crushing, as the sugar recovery rate has improved — with 52.1% of the cane being directed toward sugar production compared to 48.1% in the previous season.
★ Along with Brazil, sugar output in India and Thailand is also increasing, which is likely to boost global sugar availability.
★ Higher availability could exert downward pressure on global sugar prices.
