News Capsule: Brazil Soybean Estimate Unchanged at 179.0 Million Tons
★ Brazil’s 2025/26 soybean production estimate has been maintained at 179.0 million tons.
★ Over the weekend, rainfall benefited east-central and northwestern growing regions. However, rains in Mato Grosso slightly delayed soybean harvesting and safrinha corn planting. More rain is expected in northern Brazil this week. In contrast, dryness remains a concern in southern Brazil, particularly in Rio Grande do Sul and southern Mato Grosso do Sul, although some rainfall is forecast next week.
★ According to AgRural, Brazil’s soybean harvest reached 16% completion late last week, compared to 15% at the same time last year, marking a weekly advance of 6%. Harvest progress stands at 39% in Mato Grosso, 14% in Paraná, and 3% in Goiás.
★ Two key concerns remain: poor seed quality in parts of northern Mato Grosso and continued hot, dry weather in southern Brazil. While these issues have not yet led to a reduction in the production estimate, they may limit the potential for any upward revision.
