News Capsule: Canada Market Update
Peas
★ A positive development for the pea market is that China has agreed to remove tariffs on peas, improving sentiment and demand.
★ Yellow peas are trading at $7.00–7.50 per bushel FOB, green peas at $10.00–10.50 per bushel, and maple peas at $12.00–14.00 per bushel.
★ New-crop prices remain limited, but China reopening as a key destination is expected to create better opportunities ahead.

Lentils
★ Red lentils have seen some renewed interest this week, while green lentils remain quiet.
★ Large green lentils are offered around 24 cents FOB farm, with small greens at 20–17 cents, though farmer participation has been limited.
★ Red lentils have traded near 23 cents FOB, with up to 24 cents delivered in Western Saskatchewan.
★ For the next season, a sharper cut in green lentil acreage and a smaller decline in reds is expected, while specialty lentils continue to face weak demand.

Kabuli Chickpeas
★ The chickpea market remains uncertain, with ample supplies in Canada and the United States and slower growth in export and domestic demand.
★ With U.S. production up about 20%, demand focus has shifted to markets such as Pakistan, Türkiye, and Italy.
★ Indian buying has been less urgent recently, and Australia remains the price benchmark into that market.
★ Unless there is a meaningful reduction in global seeded area, current price levels are likely to persist.
