★ According to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Canadian farmers are expected to increase canola acreage in 2026/27, while the area under pulses such as peas and lentils is projected to decline.
★ Canola production in 2026/27 is estimated at around 19.2 million tonnes, lower due to a return to average yields.
★ Canola exports are estimated at 8.2 million tonnes in 2025/26 and 7.5 million tonnes in 2026/27.
★ Ending stocks of canola are projected at 2.75 million tonnes in 2025/26, declining to about 1.65 million tonnes in 2026/27.
★ Pea production in 2026/27 is expected to fall to around 2.85 million tonnes.
★ Lentil production is also projected lower, at approximately 2.25 million tonnes.
★ Seeding decisions will be influenced by crop rotations, moisture conditions, price expectations, input costs, and uncertainty surrounding international trade.
