News Capsule: El Niño Impact May Increase in the Next Season
★ A major agency, the APEC Climate Center, stated that the impact of El Niño may intensify after July.
★ An increase in El Niño impact generally leads to reduced rainfall.
★ The report said that India is likely to be the most affected. El Niño effects were also observed in June 2023.
★ The Kharif crops that could be impacted include soybean, tur (pigeon pea), moong, urad, paddy, corn, and groundnut.
