News Capsule: Ethanol producers raise concerns over OMC tender for 2025-26 supply
★ The tender involves the purchase of 10.5 billion liters of ethanol, inviting participation from both grain-based and sugarcane-based ethanol manufacturers.
★ Recently, the Grain Ethanol Manufacturers Association stated that due to the lack of policy changes, many mills and producers are holding large stocks of ethanol that need to be cleared soon. Sugar mills are facing the most losses.
★ In the previous tender, out of 4.72 billion liters, sugar mills were allocated 2.89 billion liters, for which 3.4 million tons of sugar were diverted.
★ Ethanol producers are concerned that India might begin importing corn from the United States.
