News Capsule: Government Rice Procurement Rises by 7 Million Tonnes
★ Between October 16–31, the government procured 7 million tonnes of rice, compared to 6 million tonnes during the same period last year.
★ Total procurement has reached 11.9 million tonnes, up from 8.185 million tonnes a year ago.
★ From October 1–15, rice purchases totaled 4.847 million tonnes.
★ Given the current paddy prices in the markets, it appears that government procurement of paddy/rice will be higher this year as well.
