News Capsule: Normal to above-normal rainfall likely in most parts of India in November: IMD
★ The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast normal to above-normal rainfall across most parts of the country in November, while some regions in northwest and south peninsular India may receive below-normal rainfall.
★ In southern India, rainfall is expected to be between 77% and 123% of the long-period average (118.7 mm) for November. Weak La Niña conditions currently prevail and are likely to continue through December to February.
★ Maximum temperatures are expected to remain below normal in most parts of India, though above-normal temperatures may be seen in parts of northeast, northwest, and southern India.
★ In October, the country received an average rainfall of 112.2 mm, which was 48.8% above normal. The northeast monsoon set in over southern India on October 16, bringing heavy rains to Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and parts of Karnataka.
