News Capsule: Oilmeal Exports See Sharp Decline: SEA
★ According to The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), India’s oilmeal exports in December 2025 stood at 240,900 tonnes, down by around 40% compared with the same period last year. During April–December 2025, total oilmeal exports were reported at 2.976 million tonnes, a decline of 6% year-on-year.
★ SEA noted that weak mustard (rapeseed) crushing activity in India has limited the availability of rapeseed meal. Fresh crop arrivals are expected in February–March, while higher global prices may affect buying interest from China. Currently, Indian rapeseed meal is quoted around FOB US$ 250 per tonne.
★ During April–December 2025, India exported 685,000 tonnes of rapeseed meal to China, accounting for about 48% of total rapeseed meal exports. Approval of additional Indian companies by China’s customs authorities, including the General Administration of Customs of China, could support exports going forward.
★ Soybean meal exports have also declined. Exports during November–December 2025 were reported at 228,000 tonnes, compared with 462,000 tonnes in the same period last year. Weak price competitiveness in the global market and rising use of DDGS in the domestic feed industry continue to weigh on demand.
