News Capsule: Oilseed Cultivation Area Expands; Production Rises to 429.89 Million Tonnes
★ According to the final estimates of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the area under oilseed cultivation in the country increased from 30.192 million hectares in 2023–24 to 30.440 million hectares in 2024–25. During the same period, oilseed production also rose from 39.669 million tonnes to 42.989 million tonnes.
★ In addition, procurement of oilseeds is being carried out under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) scheme, helping farmers secure better prices and income support.
★ This information was provided by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in a written reply in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
