News Capsule: Paddy Procurement Season 2025-26
★ By Sunday, a total of 124.22 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of paddy has been procured across the country. The government has set a target of 864.81 LMT for the current procurement season.
State-wise status:
★ Punjab continues to lead with 62.30 LMT of paddy procured so far.
★ Haryana is in second place with 47.38 LMT.
★ Chhattisgarh has an estimated target of 108.95 LMT for this season, but procurement has not yet started.
★ In Telangana, around 69,667 metric tonnes have been procured; Uttarakhand has recorded 30,307 metric tonnes, and Tamil Nadu 10.79 LMT.
★ Procurement in other states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal is expected to begin soon.
★ With the festive season now over, the pace of procurement is likely to pick up in the coming days.
