News Capsule: Pulses Import Duty Update:
★ Recently, a circular was issued showing the import duties. According to a senior Customs House Agent, this notification has been issued to streamline and consolidate the main (mother) notifications, which cover all imported items, whether free, restricted, or prohibited.
★ This notification does not change the duty-related notifications for any item. The duties mentioned in this sheet are only the Basic Customs Duty (BCD), which is part of the main notification for the item.
★ However, the applicable duty structure for the item—for example, yellow peas—will still follow Notification 64/2023, meaning the import duty remains 0% as before. Similarly, for other pulses and items, the latest tariff notifications will continue to apply.
★ In short, this notification is primarily for compliance and administrative purposes and does not affect the tariff or duty structure.
