News Capsule: Sharp Increase in Sugar Production
★ Sugar production has increased by 22% year-on-year to 15.885 million tonnes.
★ During the same period last season, sugar production stood at 13.06 million tonnes.
★ Production has increased in almost all states, especially Maharashtra.
★ In Maharashtra, last year’s production was 4.3 million tonnes, which after a sharp jump has reached 6.46 million tonnes this year. In Uttar Pradesh, production increased by 7% to 4.57 million tonnes, while in Karnataka, it rose by 13% to 3.07 million tonnes.
