Pea Harvest Nearing Completion in the US

Dallas. The pea harvest in the United States (USA) is nearing completion, whereas it is still underway in Canada. Latest data from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) indicates that farmers in major producing states did not face significant difficulties during the harvest, thanks to normal weather conditions.

According to the USDA report, over 99 percent of the pea crop in the US has been harvested, compared to 94 percent during the same period last year. The five-year average for the pea harvest also stands at 94 percent. This clearly indicates that the pace of the harvest was faster this season.

Harvesting is complete in the top two pea-producing states—Montana and North Dakota. While the harvest is also estimated to have concluded in producing states like Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, the USDA has not yet received the specific harvest percentage figures for these regions. In neighboring Canada, weather conditions have not been entirely favorable, causing disruptions to the pea harvest; rainfall frequently halts harvesting operations in the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta.
