The agricultural landscape in Yadgir district, Karnataka, is witnessing a promising start to the Rabi season, with peanut cultivation emerging as a key crop.

The district's Agriculture Department has set a target of 18,548 hectares for peanut sowing this season, and as of now, 13,296 hectares have been covered, indicating strong progress.

The sowing process is expected to continue until the end of November, suggesting that the final area could exceed the target.

Peanut cultivation is gaining traction because it is adaptable to both irrigated and non-irrigated land, making it suitable for a variety of farming conditions.

Favorable weather conditions, especially after the challenges faced during the Kharif season, have also boosted optimism among farmers.

There is a positive outlook on the yield rate, production, and overall quality of the peanut crop, which should provide good returns for the farmers.

In addition to peanuts, other Rabi crops such as jowar and gram are being cultivated, with jowar sown in 5,891 hectares and gram in 870 hectares so far.

The district's overall target for Rabi crops is 41,540 hectares, and about 48.74% of that target has been achieved. With continued favorable conditions, Yadgir district is poised for a productive Rabi season.
