Peanuts will be purchased in Karnataka at the rate of Rs 6783 per quintal

Bangalore. After getting the approval of the Central Government, the Karnataka Government has decided to start purchasing peanuts from farmers at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 6783 per quintal.

A statement issued by the Agriculture Marketing Minister of Karnataka said that to save the farmers from the ill effects of falling prices in the provincial markets, the state government had requested the Center to allow the purchase of peanuts under the price support scheme, which has been accepted.

The Center has appointed two and the state government four agencies for the purchase of peanuts. According to the official statement, in accordance with the support price guidelines,

the purchase of peanuts will be started from farmers in Tunkur, Koppal, Dharwad, Haveri, Ballari, Chitradurga, Gadag, Bagalkot, Davangere, Raichur and Vijayanagar districts of Karnataka. With this, for the first time in Karnataka, government purchase of eight agricultural products will be done under the price support scheme.

The district level task force has been directed to open purchase centers and start the process of registration of farmers in consultation with the purchase agencies.

District level officials have been asked to take all kinds of precautions so that farmers do not face any kind of problem.

Instructions have been given to complete all the necessary preparations before starting the process of registration and purchase. It has also been said to ensure that no complaint is received from any purchase center and farmers get payment on time.
