Reduced Price Difference Between Green and Yellow Peas

Panama. The international export market for peas saw mixed trends last week, resulting in a narrowing of the price gap between green and yellow peas.

Increased availability of green peas and weak demand are believed to be putting downward pressure on prices.

Although production and stocks of yellow peas are also reported to be increasing, demand for them is relatively stronger.

According to trade analysts, exporters are showing good interest in purchasing yellow peas for shipments of nearby positions that have already been contracted.

This buying activity has boosted the market somewhat, and therefore, the price of yellow peas has improved and is now closer to the price of green peas.

On the other hand, seasonal demand for green peas is weak, leading to a soft or stable price environment.

The market's attention is now focused on the 2026 soybean outlook, with the new year just two weeks away.

Analysis is being conducted on the projected demand, particularly in the Indian subcontinent and China, as top pea-producing and exporting countries like Canada and Russia rely heavily on these markets.

If there is strong demand in these markets and producers in the exporting countries receive profitable returns, the pea planting area there could remain satisfactory.
