NEW DELHI/SEOUL – After the Diwali festival, the Indian market remained relatively quiet this week. However, a new sesame seed tender from South Korea brought some activity.
The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (KAFCO) announced a new tender this week for the purchase of 3,000 metric tons (mt) of standard-quality sesame seeds. The tender process took place mid-week, and Pakistani exporters emerged as the clear winners, securing a contract for 1,200 mt of sesame seeds. The bid prices from the suppliers ranged between USD 1,741-1,747 per metric ton, on a CFR Busan basis.
The remaining quantity of the tender was divided as follows:
- Tanzania: 900 mt
- India: 600 mt
- Nigeria: 300 mt
This marks a notable win for Pakistani exporters, with India securing a smaller share of the tender compared to previous years.
