So far in October, the average closing price for the November soybean contract has risen to $10.22. There are five days left to determine the harvest price for crop insurance. This is still 19 cents above last year’s harvest price but 32 cents below the February base price.
President Trump and China’s President Xi are expected to meet in South Korea on Thursday. Lower-level talks are taking place this week, and Secretary Bessent will meet with Chinese counterparts over the weekend. The U.S. has also launched an investigation into China’s compliance with the Phase One trade deal signed in 2020.
