Mumbai. Data from the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA, Indore) shows that in June 2025, India’s soymeal exports declined by 29 percent to 97 thousand tonnes compared to June 2024.
Over the first nine months of the current marketing season (October 2024 to June 2025), total soymeal (soyDOC) exports stood at 15.60 lakh tonnes, which is 2.20 lakh tonnes less than the 17.80 lakh tonnes exported during the same period of the 2023-24 season.
India exports soymeal to over 70 countries, with major destinations including Bangladesh, Nepal, Germany, France, Kenya, and Thailand. According to SOPA, domestic production of soymeal in June dropped from 7.10 lakh tonnes last year to 6.87 lakh tonnes. The weak export performance has impacted the industry significantly.
During October 2024 to June 2025, total soybean arrivals in domestic markets reached only 89 lakh tonnes, down from 98 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous season.
In June alone, arrivals declined from 8.50 lakh tonnes to 5.50 lakh tonnes. Despite it being the off-season for soybean supply, market prices remain below the government’s minimum support price (MSP).
SOPA’s report also states that soybean crushing during the nine-month period dropped to 87 lakh tonnes, compared to 95.50 lakh tonnes in the same period last year.
At the end of June 2025, a surplus stock of 30.40 lakh tonnes of soybean remained with farmers, traders, and processing plants, compared to 38.80 lakh tonnes last year.
This includes approximately 12 lakh tonnes held by NAFED. Meanwhile, soymeal stock at the end of June rose slightly to 1.75 lakh tonnes, up from 1.49 lakh tonnes at the end of May.
