Raichur. Spinning mills of Gujarat and northern India have started buying cotton from the areas around Raichur in Karnataka and Adoni area of Andhra Pradesh because good quality cotton material is available there.
In fact, due to the continuing heavy rains in many states of the country, there is a possibility of adverse effect on the crop and quality of cotton, due to which the concern of spinning units has started increasing.
According to trade analysts, at present, there is a good arrival of cotton in Raichur and surrounding areas and its quality is also better.
As a result, most of the mills of Gujarat as well as many units of northern India are showing good activity in the purchase of cotton there.
The early sown crop of cotton has started coming to the markets after getting ready and now its quantity is increasing.
This was not seen in previous years. Although there has been rain in this area in recent days, it has not had any significant effect on the cotton crop.
Only the plucking and preparation of the crop was interrupted for some time. The price of cotton in Raichur and Adoni is running between 7000-7500 rupees per quintal.
It is worth mentioning that in top producing states like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana, the plucking and preparation of the new crop of cotton was delayed by about a month, but there was no significant delay in the arrival of the crop in North Karnataka and hence more activity of buyers is being seen there.
It is believed that the arrival of cotton may increase rapidly after 10 November in the major producing states and till then good demand will remain for cotton from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
