Strong demand and weak selling pressure drive up domestic chickpea prices; imported chickpea prices also surge by up to ₹100

Domestic chickpea prices trended higher today, supported by weak selling pressure in the domestic market and robust demand from pulse millers. Driven by increased buying interest, chickpea prices in the Delhi market rose by ₹100 per quintal. Following this surge, prices in Delhi reached ₹7,475 per quintal for varieties from Madhya Pradesh and ₹7,525 per quintal for those from Rajasthan.

Similarly, chickpea prices in the Jaipur and Jodhpur markets also saw an increase of ₹100 per quintal. In Jaipur, prices climbed to ₹7,525 per quintal, while in Jodhpur, they ranged between ₹5,900 and ₹6,900 per quintal.

The rise in domestic chickpea prices and sustained strong demand also impacted imported chickpeas, which saw an increase of ₹75 to ₹100 per quintal. Consequently, prices for Australian chickpeas reached ₹7,475–₹7,500 per quintal at the Mundra and Kandla ports, and ₹7,550 per quintal in Mumbai.

Chickpea prices have found support due to limited selling pressure and strong demand from pulse millers. The upward trend in domestic chickpeas has extended to imported stocks, keeping the market firm. Future price movements will depend on demand from pulse millers, the availability of imported chickpeas, and the level of selling activity in the domestic market.
