Sao Paulo. The sea surface temperature in the equatorial Pacific Ocean is continuously getting colder, due to which the possibility of the formation of La Nina weather cycle is increasing. Its arrival is also expected soon.
Due to the effect of La Nina weather cycle, there is heavy rainfall in the Northern Hemisphere and especially in the Asian continent, while the threat of drought persists in the Southern Hemisphere.
If there is less rainfall in the Southern Hemisphere, the production of wheat, maize and soybean is likely to be affected. Under this, the crop may remain weak especially in Argentina and Brazil. Australia may also be affected by this.
It is worth mentioning that there is a huge export of soybean and maize from Brazil and Argentina, while Australia and Argentina are among the leading wheat exporting countries.
Sowing of soybean and maize in Brazil is going to start in September. However, during the current year, the weather conditions in the countries of the Black Sea region were not favorable, due to which wheat production decreased in Russia and Ukraine,
but Russia is not facing any major problem on the export front due to the presence of previous stock of wheat. Exports from Ukraine are likely to decrease. The rainfall in the US and Canada remained normal overall.
The crops of Australia and the European Union are being monitored. As the effect of La Nina is not yet fully visible, many parts of Australia have received good rainfall, which is providing relief to winter crops.
This also includes wheat. Due to normal weather in the member countries of the European Union, crops did not suffer much damage this time.
The real crisis due to the outbreak of La Nina is expected to arise for the agricultural production of next year.
It may arrive in the end of August or beginning of September, due to which there is a possibility of increased danger to crops in the countries of the Southern Hemisphere.
The situation may worsen in Brazil and Argentina, while many other countries may also be affected by it.
