Kolkata. Dana storm is now going to turn into a very severe cyclone. It can assume a destructive form by the middle of today i.e. 24th October. Its intensity has increased a lot over the central and north-western part of the Bay of Bengal.
This morning, it was located at a distance of 210 km from Paradip in Orissa, 240 km from Ghamara and 310 km from Sagar Island of Bengal. This storm is rapidly moving towards the land.
The Meteorological Department said that the storm has already become quite dense, so there is no possibility of it becoming more intense, but it can hit the coast of northern Orissa and West Bengal as a severe sea cyclonic storm.
It is expected to have a fierce outbreak near Kanika and Ghamara between Puri and Sagar Island. The wind speed in it is likely to be 100 to 110 km per hour.
According to the Meteorological Department, the coastal areas of northern Odisha and the East Medinipur district of Bengal are expected to be particularly affected by the cyclone 'Dana' on 24-25 October.
Similarly, strong winds with a speed of 60 to 80 km per hour can blow on the southern Odisha coast and the remaining coastal districts of West Bengal.
The sea can turn violent in the coastal areas of both these states and high waves can rise in it, the height of which can be from 20 to 46 feet.
The northwestern part of the Bay of Bengal can also be affected by high waves, while waves of 8 to 20 feet high can be generated in the adjacent northeastern part.
Adequate arrangements are being made for the safety of life and property. Due to extremely heavy rains and high waves, low lying areas of Balasore, Kendrapara and Bhadrak in Orissa and East Medinipur district of Bengal are likely to be flooded,
while there is also a possibility of flooding in the 24 Parganas of Bengal and Jagatsinghpur districts of Orissa. This may damage some crops.
