Price Fluctuations Due to Weak Buying

The Tuvar market experienced price fluctuations throughout the last week primarily driven by weak buying activity and increased selling at higher prices. The overall demand for Tuvar dal remained sluggish, and millers were hesitant to purchase, leading to pressure on prices across various regions.
Key Highlights:
Chennai:
Tuvar Lemon prices declined by Rs. 100 per quintal due to weak demand. By the weekend, prices were recorded at Rs. 9900/9950 per quintal.
Mumbai:
Prices for African Tuvar remained unchanged, with Mozambique white priced at Rs. 7400/7500 per quintal and Sudan at Rs. 10550/10600 per quintal.
Other African varieties like Gajari, Malawi, and Dodomo also maintained steady prices.
Burma:
The weak export demand led to a price drop of 5 USD per ton for Burma Tuvar, with the price settling at 1105 USD per ton by the weekend.
Delhi:
Tuvar prices in Delhi witnessed a fall due to weak demand from pulses millers. Lemon variety dropped by Rs. 150 and Desi Tuvar dropped by Rs. 100, with prices closing the week at Rs. 10200/10250 per quintal for Lemon and Rs. 10700 to Rs. 10900 per quintal for the regional varieties.
Maharashtra:
Weak buying by millers in Maharashtra caused a fall of Rs. 200 to 300 per quintal. Prices ranged from Rs. 9500 to Rs. 11000 per quintal in Solapur, and other regions like Akola, Nagpur, Latur, and Ahmednagar also saw price declines.
Karnataka:
The price of Tuvar in Karnataka fell by Rs. 100 per quintal, stabilizing at Rs. 10800/11100 per quintal for Gulbarga by the weekend.
Madhya Pradesh:
Similar to other regions, sluggish buying resulted in a drop of Rs. 100 to Rs. 200 per quintal. Prices for Katni and Jabalpur remained at Rs. 10800/11100 per quintal by week’s end.
Other Regions:
Raipur and Kanpur saw stable prices due to normal demand, with prices holding at Rs. 10800/11100 per quintal in Raipur and Rs. 9000 per quintal in Kanpur.
Tuvar Dal Prices:
Tuvar Dal prices showed moderate fluctuations, with increases and decreases of Rs. 100 to Rs. 200 per quintal observed. By the end of the week, prices were recorded as:
Delhi Phatka: Rs. 14825/15875 per quintal
Katni Phatka: Rs. 14700/14900 per quintal
Akola: Rs. 15500/16500 per quintal
Latur Phatka: Rs. 16500/16700 per quintal
Gulbarga Phatka: Rs. 15200/16100 per quintal
Kanpur Phatka: Rs. 14700/15100 per quintal
Outlook:
The Tuvar market is expected to remain under pressure with continued weak buying and sluggish demand. The condition of the Tuvar crop in Karnataka is favorable, and new arrivals are expected in the last week of November, which may influence prices. However, with the current trend of weak demand and increased selling, price stability is uncertain in the short term.
