Mustard prices fall due to limited demand from crushing units
New Delhi. Mustard prices generally fell by Rs 100-200 per quintal during the week of October 24-30. It is understood that after the festive demand for mustard oil was met, crushing units showed less interest in buying mustard at higher prices. The arrival of mustard remained normal.
42% condition mustard
The price of 42 percent condition mustard fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6400 per quintal in Delhi and by Rs 75 to Rs 6600-6625 per quintal in Jaipur. The price of normal mustard remained stable in Gujarat.
Haryana
There was huge fluctuation in the markets of Haryana. There, the price of this important oilseed rose by Rs 300 in Barwala and Rs 450 in Sirsa, but fell by Rs 100 in Hisar and Rs 500 in Charkhi-Dadri. In Madhya Pradesh too, the price of mustard was down by Rs 125 in Morena and Porsa and Rs 100 in Gwalior.
Uttar Pradesh
The price of mustard in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh slipped by Rs 50 to Rs 6700 per quintal and in Agra it fell by Rs 150 to Rs 6800/7275 per quintal.
Rajasthan
The most prominent producing state - Rajasthan witnessed fluctuations in prices. There, the price of mustard was down by Rs 164 in Bharatpur, Rs 150 in Alwar and Rs 100 in Khairthal, while it was up by Rs 50 in Ganganagar, Rs 200 in Bundi and Rs 100 in Bikaner. Mustard sowing in Rajasthan is lagging behind last year. By the end of October 2024, the production area of mustard in the state reached 18.75 lakh hectares, which was 3.25 lakh hectares less than last year.
Mustard oil
Like mustard, its oil also softened. Its price fell by 6 rupees per kg in Bharatpur while in Morena it fell by 3 rupees per kg. The price of mustard oil also softened by 1-2 rupees per kg in many other markets including Delhi. At the national level, the arrival of mustard was earlier 2.25-2.75 lakh bags which came down to 1.25 lakh bags on October 30. The price of mustard cake also fell by 200 to 500 rupees.
