Mustard prices remain soft due to limited buying
New Delhi. Due to stagnation in government procurement and pressure on the entire oilseeds-oil bar, mustard prices fell by Rs 75-100 per quintal during the week of July 5-11, while in Bikaner, Rajasthan, it fell by Rs 500 to Rs 5200/5500 per quintal.
42% condition mustard
The price of 42 percent condition mustard fell by Rs 100 in Delhi and Rs 50 in Jaipur to Rs 5950 and Rs 6025/6050 per quintal respectively. The price of mustard softened by Rs 105 in Deesa and Dhanera markets of Gujarat. Similarly, its price came down by Rs 100 in the markets of Haryana, while in Adampur it fell by Rs 192.
Madhya Pradesh
The price of mustard decreased by Rs. 100-100 in Morena and Porsa of Madhya Pradesh and Rs. 50 per quintal in Gwalior. There was a softening of Rs. 50-100 in the markets of Rajasthan also. The price of mustard weakened by Rs. 50 in Hapur of Uttar Pradesh and Rs. 75 in Agra.
Mustard Oil
During the week under review, the price of mustard oil softened by Rs. 10 to Rs. 30 per 10 kg, while the price of expeller in Bikaner decreased by Rs. 60 to Rs. 1140 per 10 kg. In Delhi, the price fell by Rs. 30 to Rs. 1135. Softening was also recorded at other places.
Arrival
At the national level, 3.00 lakh bags of mustard arrived in the major producing states on 5th July, 2.65 lakh bags on 6th July, 3.25 lakh bags on 8th July, 3.25 lakh bags on 9th and 10th July and 375 lakh bags on 11th July. Each bag weighs 50 kg. Although farmers have a good stock of mustard, but in view of the falling prices, they are releasing it in the market in limited quantity. The buying by crushing mills is also weak.
