Mustard prices soften due to good arrival and limited lifting
New Delhi. Due to generally soft trend in the oilseed oil market, normal arrival of goods in the markets and weak demand from traders and millers, the price of mustard softened by 50-100 rupees per quintal during the week of 26 July - 1 August.
42% condition mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42 percent condition mustard fell by 100 rupees to 5800 rupees per quintal in Delhi and 50 rupees to 6000/6025 rupees per quintal in Jaipur.
Gujarat / Haryana
The price of loose or average quality mustard also came down. Although the price improved by 50 rupees in Deesa and Dhanera Mandi of Gujarat, it softened by 50-100 rupees in the markets of Haryana. There, its price fell by Rs. 120 in Adampur, Rs. 100 in Sirsa and Rs. 50-50 per quintal in Barwala and Charkhi Dadri.
Madhya Pradesh
Mustard prices fell by Rs. 100-100 in three important mandis of Madhya Pradesh- Morena, Porsa and Gwalior. Hapur mandi of Uttar Pradesh also witnessed a softening of Rs. 75.
Rajasthan
In the most important producing state- Rajasthan, the price of mustard weakened by Rs. 50-50 in Ganganagar and Alwar and Rs. 22 in Bharatpur. It also weakened by Rs. 50 in Khairthal.
Mustard oil
Due to weak mustard prices, the price of mustard oil also declined by Rs. 20. In Morena, the price of Kachi Ghani and Expeller oil fell by Rs. 20-20 to Rs. 1140 and Rs. 1130 per 10 kg respectively. At other places also, it softened by 5-10 rupees. The price of Kachi Ghani mustard oil in Hapur fell by 20 to Rs 1260 per 10 kg.
Arrival
During the week under review, 3.25 lakh bags arrived in the markets of major producing states on July 26, 2.70 lakh bags on July 27, 3.50 lakh bags on July 29, 3.50 lakh bags on July 30, 3.00 lakh bags on July 31 and 3.00 lakh bags on August 1, whereas each bag weighs 50 kg.
Stock
Government agencies - NAFED and HAFED have a stock of about 27.25 lakh tonnes of mustard, which will be tried to be sold in the coming days. This will likely put pressure on the market price. Farmers also have a good stock of mustard. On an average, 3.00-3.50 lakh bags of mustard are arriving daily in the markets.
