Minor fluctuations in mustard prices amid normal trading

New Delhi. Due to normal demand in crushing mills and smooth supply conditions, mustard prices witnessed a rise and fall of 25-50 rupees during the week of 2-8 August. The fluctuations were more than this in one or two mandis.

42% condition mustard

The price of 42 percent condition mustard improved by 50 rupees to 5900 rupees per quintal in Delhi and also increased by 50 rupees to 6075/6100 rupees per quintal in Jaipur. The price of normal average quality mustard remained soft by 75-75 rupees per quintal in Deesa and Dhanera mandis of Gujarat.

Haryana

The price of mustard in Haryana increased by 100 rupees to 5000/5500 rupees per quintal in Hisar and improved by 45 rupees to 5950/5970 rupees per quintal in Charkhi Dadri. The markets of Madhya Pradesh remained relatively calm. The price of mustard in the most important producing states- Rajasthan, Ganganagar and Kota increased by Rs 50 each to Rs 5550 and Rs 53/5650 per quintal respectively, but in Bharatpur it fell by Rs 25 to Rs 5700 per quintal and in Bundi it fell by Rs 350 to Rs 5500 per quintal. On the other hand, the price of mustard was up by Rs 100 in Hapur of Uttar Pradesh and Rs 50 in Agra.

Stock

Government agencies- NAFED and HAFED have a huge stock of more than 20 lakh tonnes of mustard, which is likely to be sold in the coming time. Farmers also have its stock, while the domestic oilseed-oil market is still in the grip of softness. The market can strengthen only when the festive demand emerges. Record imports of edible oils are being made from abroad.

Mustard Oil

During the week under review, the price of mustard oil generally remained high but it was a little soft in Bharatpur. In Delhi, expeller improved by Rs 5 to Rs 1155 per 10 kg, while in Ganganagar, the price of expeller and Kachi Ghani oil increased by Rs 20 each.

Arrival

Arrival of mustard in domestic markets was recorded at 2.75 lakh bags on August 2, 2.60 lakh bags on August 3, 2.90 lakh bags on August 5, 3 lakh bags on August 6 and 3 lakh bags each on August 7 and 8. Each mustard bag weighs 50 kg.
