Paddy-Rice prices rise due to good demand from millers and exporters

New Delhi. The demand for Indian Basmati rice in the international market remains strong, due to which its prices rose in the domestic segment during the week from 31 May to 6 June. Muslim majority countries of West Asia and Gulf region are already showing good interest in buying rice. The arrival of paddy in domestic markets is decreasing because the peak season of Kharif paddy supply has already ended.
Delhi
During the week under review, the price of 1509 hands increased by Rs 86 to Rs 3211 per quintal with an average daily arrival of 3-4 thousand bags of paddy in Delhi's Narela Mandi. Similarly, the price of 1121 paddy also remained high but the price of 1718 fell by 50 rupees.
Chhattisgarh
Similarly, 10-12 thousand bags of paddy arrived in Bhatapada Mandi of Chhattisgarh and 8-10 thousand bags of paddy arrived in Rajim Mandi, but due to limited business, the prices remained stable. The arrival of paddy has started decreasing in various mandis of Uttar Pradesh. During the week under review, the average daily arrival of paddy was recorded at 500-700 bags in Jahangirabad, 1000-1500 bags in Shahjahanpur and 1500-2000 bags in Aligarh. There is negligible arrival of paddy in the mandis of Punjab and Haryana, but an average of 5-7 thousand bags of paddy arrived daily in Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan and 4000-5000 bags of paddy arrived in Kota Mandi.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, due to better business, its price also remained high. Although the price of HMT fell by Rs 200 and Shriram rice by Rs 100 in Bhatpara, but in Amritsar, the prices of some varieties of rice increased by Rs 100-150 per quintal.
Uttarakhand
Good demand was also seen for some varieties of rice in the Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand, due to which its price increased by Rs 250-300 per quintal. In Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan, the price of Sugandha, 1509 and 1718 Sela rice also increased by Rs 150 to Rs 250 per quintal.
Haryana
In Karnal Mandi of Haryana, the price of 1509 Sela rice increased by Rs 300 to Rs 6300 per quintal, the price of 1718 Sela also increased by Rs 300 to Rs 6800 per quintal and the price of Taj Sela improved by Rs 200 to Rs 5200 per quintal.
Delhi
Amid the business activity in Delhi's new market, the prices of almost all varieties and categories of rice rose by Rs 100-200 per quintal, while the price of Taj Sela rice rose by Rs 300 to Rs 4900/5100 per quintal.
