Huge fluctuations in the price of Basmati paddy in Delhi- Weak rice prices in Karnal
New Delhi. Although the trade in paddy and rice was generally weak during the week of 1-7 August, a lot of fluctuations were recorded in its prices in some markets. Under this, the price of Pusa 1121 Basmati paddy in Delhi's Narela Mandi increased by a huge Rs 990 to Rs 4400 per quintal, but the price of 1509 hand fell sharply by Rs 931 to Rs 2390 per quintal. The price of number 1847 also remained soft by Rs 50.
Uttar Pradesh
In Jahangirabad Mandi of Uttar Pradesh, the price of 1509 paddy fell by Rs 250 to Rs 1800/2350 per quintal because the moisture content in this paddy is said to be more than 20 percent. Similarly, in Aligarh, the price of 1509 fell by Rs 50 to Rs 2000/2300 per quintal, while in Khair Mandi it fell by Rs 231 to Rs 2350 per quintal. In Uttar Pradesh, the preparation and harvesting of the new crop of 1509 Basmati rice is going on and its arrival is good in various mandis, but due to poor quality, the price has softened.
Rajasthan
During the week under review, the price of rice in Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan remained high by Rs 100-200, but the price of Sugandha rice in Kota Mandi fell by Rs 300 to Rs 2500/2650 per quintal. In other mandis, the price of different varieties of rice witnessed a rise or fall of Rs 50-100.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, the price of Vishnu Bhog in Bhatpara fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6300 per quintal and the price of 1509 Sela rice in Amritsar fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6400/6450 per quintal. The prices of other categories of rice also fell by Rs 150-200. The price of 5 percent broken Swarn rice in Rajim Mandi fell by Rs 400 to Rs 3200 per quintal. While the prices of other varieties of rice softened by Rs 50-75. Price softening was also seen in Bundi.
Haryana
The price of rice in Haryana's benchmark Karnal Mandi fell by Rs 300 per quintal. Under this, the price of 1509 Sela rice especially fell by Rs 300 to Rs 6300/6400 per quintal. In fact, due to the increased tension between Iran and Israel, uncertainty has increased regarding the export of Basmati rice to the countries of Central Asia and the Gulf region. A large quantity of Basmati rice is exported from India to some other countries of this region including Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Jordan and Kuwait.
