Buyers in peas remain calm due to lack of buyers
Kanpur. Pea prices declined during the current week due to increased availability of peas in the market and buyers remaining calm. In Canada, pea production is expected to increase by 5 lakh tonnes to 31.6 lakh tonnes this year as compared to season 2023-24 and total availability is expected to reach 34.89 lakh tonnes. 6% more than last year. Pea production is expected to be 29 lakh tonnes in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Due to higher supply, there is an estimate of increase in domestic use and carry-out stock, due to which the average price is expected to fall by 14% to $395/tonne. Due to increased availability of peas at the port, there is pressure of selling by importers, due to which the prices of imported peas declined by Rs 50/100 per quintal during the current week and the prices remained at Mumbai Canada Rs 3650/3700, Russia Rs 3500 and Mudra Canada Rs 3550 and Russia Rs 3450 per quintal at the weekend. Due to increased selling and slow buying, Kanpur peas prices declined by Rs 175 per quintal this week and the prices remained at Rs 3700/3725 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Lalitpur peas prices also declined by Rs 100 per quintal during the current week and with this decline, the prices remained at Rs 3300/3500 per quintal at the weekend. Due to slow buying, Mahoba peas declined by Rs 100 per quintal this week and remained at Rs 3400/3500 per quintal at the weekend. Due to weak demand, Mauranipur peas fell by Rs 50 per quintal this week and remained at Rs 3300/3425 per quintal at the weekend. Due to the impact of all-round fall and weak demand, Damoh peas fell by Rs 100 per quintal and remained at Rs 3475/3600 per quintal at the weekend.

Due to the impact of fall in peas and weak buying, 50/7 decline was seen in the prices of peas dal during the current week and the price at the weekend remained at Rs 4200/4250 in Kanpur and Rs 4300/4400 per quintal in Indore.
