Soybean Prices Rise Due to Strong Demand from Crushing Units
New Delhi. Domestic and global conditions remain favorable for a rise in soybean prices. Good buying and selling of soybeans is taking place in Madhya Pradesh under the Bhavantar Payment Scheme, and the pace of government procurement under the Price Support Scheme is accelerating in Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
Prices
Meanwhile, high soybean oil prices in the global market and a significant depreciation of the rupee have made the import of crude degummed soybean oil expensive. As a result, Indian refiners have started prioritizing purchases from domestic mills, reducing imports of foreign oil.
Plant Prices
During the week of January 17-23, the plant delivery price of soybeans in Madhya Pradesh increased by Rs. 100-200 to Rs. 5400-5600 per quintal, which is higher than the minimum support price of Rs. 5328 per quintal. In Maharashtra, it even jumped to a high of Rs. 5700 per quintal. A rise of up to Rs. 150 was also seen in Rajasthan.
Soybean Oil (Refined)
Due to the significant increase in soybean prices, the price of refined soybean oil also increased by Rs. 1 to 4 per kg. However, the price fell by Rs. 15 in Kota to Rs. 1335 per 10 kg and by Rs. 20 in Mumbai to Rs. 1300 per 10 kg, but it increased by Rs. 20 in Haldia to Rs. 1320 per 10 kg and jumped by Rs. 50 in Kandla to Rs. 1380 per 10 kg.
Arrivals
During the week under review, national-level arrivals of soybeans in mandis were 2.40 lakh bags on January 19, 2.40 lakh bags on January 20, and 2 lakh bags on January 23.
Soybean Meal (DOC)
Soybean DOC traded well in Maharashtra, driven by strong demand, particularly from the animal feed and poultry feed industries. As a result, soybean DOC prices increased by ₹1000-2000 per ton. It is expected that the upward trend in soybean prices will continue for some time.
