Urad prices rise due to improved demand
Chennai. Urad prices remained on the rise during the current week due to weakening of selling at low prices and better buying. The rising prices of Urad got support due to increased activity of dal millers and stockists. Chennai Urad witnessed a rise of Rs 200/225 per quintal this week due to weakening of selling by importers and increased demand and the price at the weekend reached FAQ Rs 8450 and SQ Rs 9200 per quintal. Similarly, Mumbai Urad also rose by Rs 200 per quintal this week to Rs 8650 per quintal at the weekend.
Burma
Due to increase in export demand, Burma Urad FAQ has witnessed a rise of $ 25 and SQ has witnessed a rise of $ 20 per tonne during the current week and with this increase, the price at weekend became $ 1015 for FAQ and $ 1110 for SQ per tonne.
Delhi
Due to the support of rise in the port prices and increase in buying by dal millers, Delhi Urad FAQ has witnessed a rise of Rs 225 and SQ has witnessed a rise of Rs 200 per quintal during the current week and the price at weekend became Rs 8450 for FAQ and Rs 9250 for SQ per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to increased demand from stockists and dal millers, prices of Madhya Pradesh urad witnessed a rise of Rs. 200/300 per quintal during the current week and the prices at the weekend became Ashoknagar Rs. 5000/7500, Jabalpur Rs. 5500/8300, Kareli Rs. 4800/7051, Damoh Rs. 5500/8150 and Indore Rs. 7500/8500 per quintal.
Maharashtra
Due to weak selling and better buying, prices of Maharashtra urad witnessed a rise of Rs. 200/400 per quintal during the current week and with this rise, prices at the weekend became Akola Rs. 8850, Latur Rs. 6000/8600, Solapur Rs. 6100/8500, Dudhni Rs. 6000/8700 and Ahmednagar Rs. 5500/8000 per quintal.
Others
Due to increased buying, this week, the price of Krishna district urad in Andhra Pradesh saw a rise of 50 rupees and Vijayawada urad also saw a rise of 50 rupees per quintal and the price of Krishna district became 9100 rupees and Vijayawada 9100 rupees per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, the price of Uttar Pradesh urad registered a rise of 200 rupees per quintal this week and with this rise, the price became 5500/8200 rupees per quintal at the weekend.
Urad dal
Due to improvement in demand, the price of urad dal saw an improvement of 100/200 rupees per quintal during the current week and with this improvement, the price became Delhi 10850/11750 rupees, Bhatapara 11100/11200 rupees, Jalgaon 11600 rupees, Meerut 9800/10300 rupees and Indore 10500/14200 rupees per quintal.
