Urad prices improve due to weak selling and increased buying

Chennai. Urad prices saw a rise this week due to weak selling at reduced prices and increased buying. The rising prices of Urad got support due to increased activity of dal millers. Urad sowing is going on at a fast pace due to favorable weather. The condition of Urad crop is also very good. Sporadic arrival of new Urad may start from the month of September. At present, the availability of FAQ Urad remains weak at Chennai Port. Due to weak availability and increased buying, Chennai Urad registered an increase of Rs 75/750 per quintal this week and the price at the weekend became FAQ Rs 8950 and SQ Rs 9475 per quintal. Similarly, Mumbai Urad also increased by Rs 100 per quintal this week to Rs 9050 per quintal at the weekend.

Burma

Due to weakening of selling by exporters and increase in buying, Burma Urad FAQ and SQ registered a rise of 16 $ and 16 $ per tonne during the current week and the price reached $ 1061 per FAQ and $ 1151 per SQ at the weekend.

Delhi

Due to the support of rise in the port and improvement in the demand of dal millers, Delhi Urad FAQ and SQ registered a rise of Rs 100 and Rs 50 per quintal during the current week and the price reached Rs 9300 per FAQ and Rs 9900 per quintal at the weekend.

Madhya Pradesh

Due to weak selling and increased buying by dal millers, Madhya Pradesh urad prices witnessed a rise of Rs. 100/200 per quintal in the current week and with this rise, the prices at the weekend became Ashoknagar Rs. 6500/8500, Ganjbasoda Rs. 5500/8500, Jabalpur Rs. 7000/9000, Kareli Rs. 6000/8760 and Indore Rs. 9000/9200 per quintal.

Maharashtra

Due to sluggish buying, no rise or fall was seen in Maharashtra urad prices during this week and the prices at the weekend remained stable at Akola Rs. 9300, Latur Rs. 8000/9200, Barshi Rs. 7000/8400, Jalgaon Rs. 9000/9800 and Ahmednagar Rs. 8500/9000 per quintal.

Others

Due to increased demand from dal millers, this week, Andhra Pradesh's Krishna District Urad saw a rise of 50 rupees and Vijayawada Urad saw a rise of 75 rupees per quintal and the price at the weekend became 9450 rupees for Krishna District and 9525 rupees per quintal for Vijayawada. Similarly, Raipur Urad also rose by 200 rupees this week and became 9700/9800 rupees per quintal at the weekend.

Urad Dal

Due to weak demand, the price of Urad Dal saw a rise of 50/100 rupees per quintal during the current week and with this rise and fall, the price remained stable at Delhi 11050/12200 rupees, Bhatapara 11500/11650 rupees, Jalgaon 12200 rupees, Meerut 10600/11100 rupees and Indore 12000/12600 rupees per quintal.
