Relaxation in Wheat Quality Standards for Government Procurement in Rajasthan
📍 Key Announcement
✔️ The Central Government has relaxed wheat quality standards for procurement in Rajasthan.
✔️ This decision comes after weather-related quality issues (excess rain in some areas, extreme heat in others).
✔️ Farmers will benefit as lower-quality wheat will now also be procured at MSP.
📉 Revised Quality Standards
✔️ Shrunken/broken grains: Increased from 6% to 20%.
✔️ Damaged/partially damaged grains: Must not exceed 6%.
✔️ Lusterless grains: Capped at 10%.
✔️ Separate storage:
Lower-quality wheat will be stored separately from regular stock.
To be used only within Rajasthan and not distributed outside the state.
📆 Reason for Relaxation
✔️ 2024-25 wheat season affected by extreme weather fluctuations.
✔️ Government ensures farmers do not suffer losses due to quality deterioration.
✔️ Priority utilization: Subsidized-quality wheat will be used before normal-quality stock.
📌 MSP & Bonus
MSP increased from ₹2275 to ₹2425 per quintal.
Rajasthan government bonus: Additional ₹150 per quintal.
Farmers in Rajasthan to receive ₹2575 per quintal.
