New Delhi. A two-day conference of the Agriculture Ministers of BRICS member nations will be organized next month in Indore—Madhya Pradesh's premier commercial city. The BRICS member nations comprise Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The organization was formed by combining the first letters of the names of these countries. During this two-day conference—hosted and chaired by India—detailed discussions will be held on subjects such as food security, smart farming, global agricultural trade, and farmer welfare.
On May 3, the Union Agriculture Minister held consultations with officials regarding the preparations for this event, alongside the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and issued necessary directives. The government is making every possible effort to ensure that this event is a complete success and a memorable occasion.
According to the Union Agriculture Minister, the event is scheduled to take place in Indore on June 12–13, 2026, and will be attended by the Agriculture Ministers of all member nations of the BRICS bloc. India shares excellent trade relations with these countries, and the conference will also feature deliberations on strategies to foster the growth and expansion of trade activities.
Prior to this significant ministerial-level meeting, a three-day meeting of officials under the BRICS Agriculture Working Group will be held in Indore itself, from June 9 to June 11. This group will prepare the comprehensive draft of the topics to be addressed during the conference. Thus, the entire program will span five days, and it is anticipated to yield positive outcomes.
