CPOPC Emphasizes Close Ties with India

Mumbai: The Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) has advised its member nations to maintain close relations with India, noting that India is the world's most prominent, stable, and reliable importer of edible oils, including palm oil. India is a key partner for major palm oil-producing and exporting nations; therefore, fostering strong ties with the country is essential.

Addressing the three-day Globoil Conference held at The Westin Mumbai, Powai Lake, the Council's Secretary-General commended the efforts being made to boost edible oil production within India. A combination of robust domestic production capacity and strategic imports is enabling India to effectively meet its edible oil demand and requirements. This approach will significantly contribute to ensuring India's long-term food security.

It is noteworthy that the 29th edition of the Globoil India Conference commenced on September 29 and will continue until October 1, 2026. The event is being attended by numerous representatives, experts, and analysts from the global vegetable oil industry and trade sectors. Participants include industry stalwarts, traders, processors, importers, refiners, representatives from commodity exchanges and trade associations, as well as policymakers.

Addressing the conference's session on palm oil, the Council's Deputy Secretary-General stated that, given the rapidly rising demand for biofuel in palm oil-producing and exporting nations, it has become crucial and essential to maintain continuous contact and dialogue between importing and exporting countries, ensuring the timely exchange of necessary information and data between both parties.
