Domestic Sugar Quota Set at 14 Lakh Tonnes for the First Fortnight of October

The Department of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, has fixed a quota of 14 lakh tonnes of sugar for sale in the domestic market during the first fortnight of October 2026.

According to the information released by the government, sugar mills will be permitted to sell a total of 14 LMT (Lakh Metric Tonnes) of sugar in the domestic market between October 1 and October 15, 2026.

Demand for sugar in the domestic market is expected to rise with the onset of the festive season. In this context, the fixed quota is expected to help maintain sugar availability in the market and control unnecessary price fluctuations.
